Trek Fun Club - History Highlights
- In January 2000 Lynda
Markwood proposed that an area Trek Fun Club be formed.
- In April 2000 the
first SE Trek Fun Club Rally was held in Fort McCoy, FL.
At the rally Lynda Markwood was elected the club's first
president, Bill Mehard vice president and Audrey Jones,
secretary. Gary Smith was named newsletter editor. Dues
were set at $5.00 a year.
- Subsequent rallies
were held at Huntington Beach State Park, SC (November
2000); Titusville, FL (January 2001); Cypress Gardens,
FL ( April 2001); Fletcher, NC (November 2001).
- At the Fletcher, NC
rally in November 2001 Audrey Jones relinquished her position
of secretary and Claire Weston was elected the club's
secretary/treasurer.
- In January 2002 at
the Titusville, FL rally Bill Mehard became president,
Roy Drummond vice president, Claire Weston secretary/treasurer
and Wanda Beasley historian.
- In April 2002 at the
Mt Pleasant, SC rally Joe and Georgia Juenger provided
a logo for the club.
- At the October 2002
Flat Rock, NC rally the club ruled that "Those persons
who owned a Trek and were members of the S.E. Trek Fun
Club and then purchased another Safari product, can continue
to belong to the S.E.Trek Fun Club." At this rally Carolyn
Buttriss became the club's newsletter editor.
- In January 2003 at
the Citrus Valley Campground in Clermont, FL Bill Mehard
was named president, Jim Fisher vice president and Claire
Weston as secretary/treasurer.
- 2003 Spring and Fall
club rallies were held in Seffner, FL and Flat Rock, NC
respectively.
- In January of 2004
at the Citrus Valley Campground in Clermont, FL club officers
were elected. Jim Fisher was elected president, John McHale
vice president and Claire Weston secretary/treasurer.
- During April 2004
at the Ocklawaha RV Park in Ft. McCoy, FL the 4th anniversary
of the club's formation was held.
- In September 2004
the club held its Fall rally in Myrtle Beach, S C.
- In January 2005 at
the Citrus Valley Campground in Clermont, FL the club
approved the following: "If a Trek owner who was a member
of the S. E. Trek Fun Club purchases some other brand
of motor home, these persons can still be members of our
club but their status will be Alumni Members. These members
will pay dues and receive the newsletter but will not
be able to vote." Jim Fisher was reelected as president,
John McHale as vice president and Claire Weston as secretary.
Donna Benner assumed the role of newsletter editor.
- In May 2005 the club
held its spring rally in conjunction with the NE/SE Safari
International Rally in Urbanna, VA
- In October 2005 the
club's Fall Rally was held in Flat Rock, NC.
- The 2006 Winter Rally
was held at the Citrus Valley Resort in Clermont, FL with
61 coaches attending. The membership unanimously reelected
the the current officers for 2006.
- In May 2006 the club's
Spring Rally was held in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
- In September 2007
the club's Fall Rally was held in Flat Rock, NC
- In January 2007 the
club's Winter Rally was held in Clermont. FL at the Clerbrook
Golf & RV Resort. John McHale was elected as president,
Al Cooper as vice president and Claire Weston as secretary.
- In May 2007 the club's
Spring Rally was held in Crossville, TN.
- In September 2007
the club's Fall Rally was held in Myrtle Beach, SC.
- In January 2008 the
club's Winter Rally was held in Clermont, FL at the Clerbrook
Golf & RV Resort. John
McHale were reelected unanimously as president, Al Cooper
as vice president and Claire Weston as secretary. The
membership also adopted revisions to the club's Guidelines
as noted in the minutes.
